All Spiders are considered beneficial.  You read that correctly.  They are beneficial because they are predators of other unwanted pests in and around homes, businesses, and industrial sites.  

Spiders are not aggressive by nature.  Most avoid confrontation.  All spiders have venom, but most do not pose a hazardous threat to humans, unless allergic.  Notable exceptions located in Texas are the black widow, brown widow, and brown recluse.

Black/Brown Widow Spiders Can Cause Hypertension, Muscle Spasms, Weakness and Paralysis.

Brown Recluse Spiders Can Cause Local Ulcerations and Necrosis of Skin.

Spiders seek out dark corners, crevices and cracks to hide in in homes and businesses.  Outdoors, spiders can follow this same behavior, or build large magnificent webs that they hang out on throughout the day waiting for prey to be caught in the web.  

Spiders generally only bite when threatened, or when pressure is felt.  Most bites occur when a spider is in or around clothing and the clothing presses in on the spider.  They bite as a defense mechanism, not an attack.  

Black and brown widows will most likely be found in garages or other structures open to the outdoors.  They build their webs down low and generally only emerge for web maintenance or web vibration.  Brown recluses prefer dry, hot areas and a a result can be observed on patio overhangs in the heat of the summer.

The best way to control spiders in and around your home or business is to control their food.  By reducing the food supply the spiders have access to, you will effective motivate them to move elsewhere to find more food.  

Cleaning webs regularly will get them to move as well.  Similar to major weather event removing our home, removing the spiders home will help them move on their way.
