Cockroaches are nocturnal and will go for any food or water. They are not picky, they will even eat paste from peeling wallpaper. They will find homes in many places outside such as wood piles, planters, under rocks, under your flower bed, etc. Most often roaches are spread via human transport or trade.

German Cockroaches are often found in kitchens both in homes and businesses. They arrive by hitching a ride on someone or in something transported to that location, or from a neighbor who is harboring them. They infest the gaps and cracks in your kitchen (when present), often staying near the warmth of the back of your refrigerator, coming out at night to help you clean up the mess you left.

Cleanliness is the number one, two, and three thing to do to keep this pest under control. In the event you find them:

- Clean Counters Daily

- Sweep and Mop the Floor Regularly

- Vacuum Regularly

- Pick up Pet Food and Water Bowls at Night

- Ensure the Garbage Can has a Tight Lid, or Take the Trash Out Daily

- Remove Stacks of Newspaper, Magazines, and Boxes

- Clean Out the Back of the Refrigerator and Remove any Food Debris

- Seal all Cracks and Crevices

- Fix Any Leaks

- Eliminate Stacks of Debris by the Building

- Remove or Clean Up Foliage Close to the Building
